Technical lesson: Barrel curls and finger waves...

Products used:
pin tail comb
hairbrush
hair grips
sectioning clips
water
hairspray

Finger waves:
Step 1: Section the hair into two parts from the back of ear to ear and then section again into 2 parts.
Step 2: Wet the hair with the water on your chosen section of hair
Step 3: Using the first section comb away from the face
Step 4: Next using your middle finger press down on the hair beneath the section you combed away from the face and using the comb move the hair back towards the face.
Step 5: Then using your pointing finger or ring finger which ever is more comfortable pinch the hair together and use the pin tail to access the hair in between your fingers and clip it in place with the sectioning clip, when this is done wait until the hair is dry and unclip the sectioning clips and you are left with a waved effect in the hair.

Barrel curls:
Step 1: Section the hair off
Step 2: using the wand curl the hair and pull release it in a downwards motion to create a loose barrel curl
Or

Curl the section of hair, once released using 2 fingers roll the hair around them to create a barrel and secure to the head at the curl to ensure its the most secure and remove supporting fingers.

Technical lesson: Creating silhouettes

For this image i really liked the hair style i had created in my previous lesson of creating Victorian shapes, therefore i used this idea to create my silhouette idea. I wanted to create a Miss Havisham on her wedding day and so i chose for my hairstyle to still be in place rather then decaying.
My interpretation of Miss Havisham was also that she turned mad and eccentric post dumping on her wedding day and so my style was created to reflect the style she would have had on her wedding day prior to her turning mad.

I like the simplicity of my silhouette and believe it reflects and very put together and presentable woman, however when i created my design it has far more detailing on it in which doesn't show in a silhouette image, although next time i would like to create a silhouette that was a little wilder but for now i believe my image works for me and for the character i was attempting to portray.

Claudias a popstar...

Here are some ideas of some of the music videos i think could suit Claudia and Quentin:

Kate Bush- Wuthering heights

Evanescence - Bring Me To Life

Queen- I want to break free

The cure- Lullaby
Available:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijxk-fgcg7c

These are the 4 music videos that i think would work best for Claudia and Quentin and the characters that they are and what they portray. Videos 1,2 and 3 are more suited due to the lyrics and video 4 is more suited due to the video and what is happening within it. During video 4 the man within the video is scared to leave his bed because of people outside and you see cobwebs cover him as the video goes on, this i think links really closely to Claudia and the fact that she to is scared to venture outside.
Video 3 i think would be suited to both Claudia and Quentin to sing together "i want to break free" could be the lyrics that are suited to Quentin, and "I've fallen in love for the first time" more suited to Claudia so this would work well for them to sing to one another.
As for videos 1 and 2 these lyrics are both suited to Claudia and her mental state. I also attempted to find a few different songs that didn't all come from the same year and genre because i think its more interesting to have a mix.

Quentin storyboard...

This is my story board for my final idea of Quentin. I am going to create him to be extremely pale with extreme contouring in a dull brown/grey tone to add to the coolness and add an almost ghost like feel. The hair will be fairly sleek but with a little ruffle through the top. Also i want to add a gag to the mouth to add to the fact that he is so perfect that he will only say what Claudia wants and so the gag represents the fact that no words are his and also adds to the fact he is a figure of her imagination.

Claudia storyboard...

This is my story board for my final Claudia character, again i used pinterest to create my story board. My final character idea is based on pale skin with a bold lip and some form of blindfold to cover the eyes. and sleek hair. I think this makeup look ties together all aspects of the brief well. The sleek hair and bold lip address the high fashion aspect, the pale skin comes from the fact that Claudia never ventures outside and the blind fold is the latest addition to her look as an influence from horror films and being kidnapped.

Femme fatale...

Femme fatale is based upon women and the dangers of their sexuality, these women are desirable and full of charm, they are domineering and hold all power over those who succumb to their seductive yet mysterious sophistication.
When imagining this type of woman I imagine many different things here's an example:

"femme fatale today is still often described as having a power akin to an enchantress, seductress, vampire, witch, or demon, having power over men."
