Final evaluation...
For me this project has been full of up and downs and at first I had to get used to the faster paced term but once I got my head around it I really enjoyed it because it reflects a far more realistic approach in terms of what it is like to work within the industry. The fact that we had 4 different characters at once however it helped that they were linked in some way i.e. Miss Havisham and Estella. What I did enjoy was due to the short time we had to create each character it was just long enough to research but not become sick of the characters before you had finished the brief.
My ' what the Dickens...?' characters i was really pleased with and I enjoyed the challenge of continuity for the first time. From my photos i can see that the 2nd time the hair I created wasn't as neat as the first time and as for the makeup i need to add an extra tear town the face, although for my first time at continuity i was really pleased with the outcome. As for Estella I think I managed to capture a really innocent and pure image which i think contrasts nicely with the character that Estella really is.
In the 2nd half go the brief 'Meet Claudia. Meet Quentin. Love hurts.' I had fun with a contemporary image this time it was a nice contrast to the period looks we had to create in the first half of the brief. I really like my outcome with these 2 characters, whilst creating them I constantly kept in mind whether my designs would work within high fashion and i think i managed to create the right balance of gothic horror and high fashion mixed into one image. Next time i would make Claudia's lips darker on the outer corners and possibly make Quentin's eyes slightly darker but overall I'm extremely happy with the outcome.

Technical post- masculine hair...
During this lesson we had to create masculine hair on long hair.
Products used:
pintail comb
backcombing brush
paddle bush
hair grips
sectioning clips
hairspray
Step 1: Start with creating a flat french pleat at the back of the head as a means of getting the hair up and secured.
Step 2: Section the hair from the from the front into the parting you want i used a side parting
Step 3: Using the smaller section comb this downwards and round the ear and secure in the french pleat
Step 4: Add some volume to larger side of hair and comb back from the front hair line and up from the parting to create a masculine style
Technical post- the perfect ponytail...
Me as a model for Rebecca Small
Products used:
Hairdryer
Pintail comb
Barrell brush
hairband
water
hairspray/mousse/shine spray
Step 1:Start off by blowdrying the hair straight.
Step 2:Once this is complete you need to begin to pull back the hair , for this you need to use your comb to bring it back and hold in place as you bring more hair into the ponytail
Step 3:Once you have achieve a good smooth style you can secure it with a hairband
Step 4:To finish off smooth over using your comb and some mousse or a little hairspray but not until you are completely confident and happy with the outcome.
Quentin...
These are my final images for Quentin. I wanted him to be really pale and ghost like, but also use the masculine features by having an extreme contour. i decided to do this with grey to add to coldness of the image and not add any warmth to the skin. I also added in the same material used to cover Claudias eyes for Quentin to have in his mouth to represent the fact that anything Claudia might say has come from Quentin aren't his own words and are actually Claudias. As for his hair i wanted to create a his and hers hair style and so i slicked down both sides of the hair and added volume to the middle to create a mohawk for the same reasons as with Claudia. I also wanted to make their hair style similar as i feel its like adding a stamp onto Quentin to show he is owned by claudia.
Overall i think my look was to represent the fact that he isn't real and is a figure of someones imagination hence why i went for a ghost like feel which also adds to the gothic horror theme. However i also kept in mind the aspect of a fashion images and so I feel I managed to achieve this.
Claudia...
These are my final images for Claudia. My idea behind her was to create a really pale ivory base to represent the fact that Claudia never ventures outside and i also applied little to no blush to also reflect her lack of sunlight. I then used a bold purple lip to contrast to the pale skin and represent her interest in fashion. As for the influence of horror films into her style i incorporated a blindfold. I think the fact that you can't see the eyes adds a really creepy and sinister feel to the look. I decided to use lace to also incorporate a fashionable accent.
As for the hair i decided i wanted to use a sleek element and so I started with straightening the hair. From here i decided i liked the idea of slicked sides with a little more volume on top and so i decided to sleek both sides of the hair and have the top middle section of the hair backcombed with a sleeker layer of hair layered onto, i think this is a really nice way to use a mow hawk style in a high fashion way. I feel the mohawk idea is influenced by gothic and biker type fashion.
Overall I'm really pleased with my outcome for Claudia i think i managed to balance the mix of gothic horror and high fashion well. Next time i would create more volume on the top part of the hair and possibly make this part larger and taller, and as for the makeup i feel i would make the outer corners of the lips possibly darker and add more gloss.
